Yacht Rock is set to open to the public for the first time on Wednesday in Puerto Rico.
The cruise ship will sail from San Juan to the island’s capital, San Juan, and will make stops at the popular Puerto Viejo beachfront, as well as other beaches in the island.
“We’re very excited to open the doors to Puerto Rican visitors,” says owner and president of Yachtrock, Juan Carlos García-Barrillo.
“This is the first ever tour for a cruise ship in Puerto Rican waters, and we are going to make it the most enjoyable experience for all our guests.”
YachtRock’s opening day will also include an all-day concert featuring Puerto Rican rock band Puerto Rico, which will be performing a set on the deck of the ship, along with local Puerto Rican artists.
The concert will begin at 4 p.m. and will run until midnight.
“The concert will be a great showcase of Puerto Rican culture, music and culture, and this is a perfect opportunity for Puerto Ricans to experience Puerto Rican music and music culture from an international perspective,” García, who has been a member of the Puerto Rican community for more than 40 years, said.
“It’s going to be an unforgettable experience for everyone who goes on this journey.”
A limited number of seats will be available for the concert at the San Juan International Airport.
The event will be open to everyone, regardless of nationality.
“A lot of Puerto Ricas have been looking for an opportunity to visit this island, and it’s really nice to be able to provide that opportunity for them,” Garcia-Barca said.
The group will be on hand at the beach for the day to answer questions from guests.
Yacht ROCK will depart the island for Puerto Rico on the morning of Wednesday, May 6.
Guests are invited to stop by the Yacht Rocks website at 9 a.m., or to register online at yachtrock.com, and reserve a spot to stay on the boat.
