A boat that capsized off the coast of the Maldives last year has sunk in waters off the island.
The MV Jules Verne is a small boat that sank off the shores of Maldives island of Maldivaiya in January this year, killing all of the crew.
The boat capsized in the ocean around 6.30am local time and was floating in the waters for around 30 minutes before it sunk.
The Maldives Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources has said the boat’s captain and another man were rescued but it is not clear if they survived.
The vessel was carrying a crew of 11 people, including the captain, and was in port for about 12 days before it sank.
The incident prompted the Maldivian government to launch an investigation into what went wrong.
The vessel was not registered as a commercial vessel and the crew had no documents proving their ownership.
The captain has been detained in Maldives, and the ship has been confiscated.
The government has yet to comment on the case.
