The boat is named for Enfield, England’s first British captain, who died in 1837.
Enfield Yacht Club, a local charity, has been running the yachted sailboat since 2014.
“This is the first yachty that we have put in the water,” said Ben Lipski, co-founder of the company, which was established in 2015 by the Toronto-based yacht builder James & Cushman.
“The whole boat was put into the water with the boat being the centerpiece of the design.”
Lipsski said the boat is made of stainless steel and features a modern cockpit with an inflatable cockpit.
The yacht is powered by a six-cylinder electric motor, which is mounted on a large propeller on the side of the hull.
It is a “high performance, high-volume boat,” said Lipsiski.
The crew has a total of eight sailors onboard.
The Enfield is one of two yachties that are part of the new Enfields Yacht Show, an annual event held in Toronto from November 15 to December 17.
“You have to be able to pull the boat out and go out and explore,” said Joe T. Sautin, owner of the yacht club.
“It’s a really great boat.”
Enfield’s owner said he was excited about having such a large fleet of yachters in Toronto.
“I’m looking forward to going out and sailing with the guys that have the boats, and being able to give back to the community,” he said.
The Enfields yachter has been named “Queen Elizabeth II’s Yacht” for the Queen, and the company is also selling the boat for a large donation.”
They’re the people that are just doing it for the community, and I really believe that the more people that can help them out, the better off we all are.”
